Lila Bhawa poem by Din ‘Wayan Melayu’

The Legend of Lila Bhawa

One upon a time in a village named Hackney
A few came to dance, and now there are many
Practise, Practise, Practise!
Says the leader to the apprentice
No matter the weather
No matter the bother
Krupuks, crisps and tacos
Sustenance for the chaos
We are very blessed
Though we make a mess
Pujawati – teaching setengah mati
Jiggs & John – full of patience and generosity
Lila Bhawa, Legend that will always be
Lila Bhawa, always buzzing like a bumblebee
Once upon a time, in a village named Hackney
A few came to dance, and now there are many
